Search Market Saturation | Unbeatable PPC
Paddock was a hobbyist vendor selling commoditized F1 gear with zero product differentiation. The market sat at a 100% QCI*, held by legacy teams, official license manufacturers, entrenched car clubs and global retail giants - all pushing the exact same inventory at the exact same price.
Most agencies would have told them to burn cash on brand awareness. We optimized their Shopify site on a shoestring budget and turned it into an elite sales tool against multi-million and billion-dollar market leaders.
- Infrastructure Over Advertising: Instead of out-spending global giants, we out-maneuvered them through technical superiority and precise structural execution.
- Semantic Precision: Data and taxonomy structured to match exact search intent, commanding commodity keywords where competitors relied on brand recognition alone.
- $0.21 Blended CPC: Customer acquisition cost became a rounding error while competitors bled capital to stay with us.
- 52.19% Impression Share: With hobby-level spend, that level of saturation was the only way to survive - and it's exactly what kept acquisition costs not just low, but mathematically possible.
- 428x ROAS: We normally despise ROAS as a vanity metric - it says more about the product than the marketing - but on a three-digit monthly budget, in a razor-thin, undifferentiated market, it earns its place here.
A Small Florida Shop vs. the Largest Retailers on Earth
Mavik started as a small bait-and-boat-parts shop in Florida. We built it into a multi-distributor marine marketplace: 48,067 products, a dedicated store for every brand it carried, and thousands of hand-built keywords - campaign by campaign, CSV by CSV - in a market with an 84% QCI*.
Where it started. (Our underdog, on duty.)
An expertly built enterprise Magento site with technical SEO done right from day one. Google Ads Auction Insights ranked Mavik fifth in impression share - behind only Amazon, eBay, Walmart and Wholesale Marine, and ahead of West Marine and Bass Pro Shops.
- Google Shopping: 6,779,446 impressions and 99,043 clicks at a $0.13 average CPC in the first two months.
- Search: 11,517 clicks at an 8.24% CTR and a $0.18 average CPC across the brand, accessory and text-based campaigns.
- Organic: A peak 14.29% organic e-commerce conversion rate.
It worked, sadly too well. Fast success is hard to manage when you're young, and the business didn't survive its own momentum.

*QCI (Query Competition Index) measures how contested a market's searches are; 100% is maximum competition.
