Website SEO (Search Engine Optimization) & Internet Marketing: Designing a website to not only be SEO friendly, but rank well for your chosen keywords takes a massive amount of planning before you start construction. This also touches on some concepts that SEO experts argue about regularly.
How is site content measured in relation to SEO? In other words is it a case by case, page by page basis, or does the search engine measure your entire site content as a whole?
All of your website content is sorted by importance and averaged for final "score" if you will, then factored against user traffic habits for accuracy.
Why do other SEO companies argue about website design? External link building.
External link building. External links are such a powerful tool they can skew results by offering unnatural listings that would not be attainable, nor sustainable without backlinks. Problem with powerful tools such as backlinks is they generally have a short life span. Search engines constantly implement new tools to rank websites more accurately in searches; link building is one that is currently in the refinement process.
At Future Beta, we do pay attention too, and use backlinks, but this is used later on in the campaign when the website is already ranking well. This is finishing move, not a first strike. We believe it's a matter of common sense that if sites can achieve unnatural ranks using backlinks, then it is only a matter of time before this exploit is corrected.
The concept of backlinks makes sense. A provider that is established will have affiliates, fans and/or be used as a reference by other sites. So that's how we use it. Link to your friends and affiliates, allow others to reference your content, and place yourself in relevant directories and forums. DO NOT place yourself anywhere just to have a backlink. If you are fair with the search engine, they will be fair with you. Provide accurate, relevant information and links, and the search engine will rank you accordingly.
